Combine Your Wish For A Family With a Legal Career? | 21C Woman

Most women who want to combine a career and a family tend not to think about Female lawyer, 19th Centuryworking in the legal field as it has a reputation for long hours and weekend work. But while this is the case in some litigation and corporate law firms, it is not the case everywhere.

For example, most legal careers in banking and other financial institutions don?t usually involve working weekends and late into the evening. Bankruptcy paralegals tend to keep regular office hours with perhaps the occasional late night. There is currently a huge demand for legal assistants with experience in finance, bankruptcy and debt management services.

Most people cannot afford to file for bankruptcy themselves i.e. without an attorney as the risks of doing the wrong thing have increased dramatically following the introduction of Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) 2005.

The new law has confused everyone and people have come to realize that nnyone filing for personal bankruptcy requires them to consult a bankruptcy attorney first. Otherwise they could find that bankruptcy makes their financial situation a lot worse rather than better. The current law is so confusing that even professional experts argue about how the provisions of the act should be interpreted.

For this reason, people involved in this area of the law need to keep up to date with developments in case law. They need to be aware of how individual judges are interpreting the Act etc. For example there may be certain Judges who are more liberally minded about what constitutes reasonable living expenses in a Chapter 13 filing. Other judges have suggested that clients seek a second or third job in order to make good their repayments. This is probably not the Judge you want to hear your case. A bankruptcy paralegal will get to know the local Judges.

With the current economic problems, the number of people filing for bankruptcy on a personal basis has increased dramatically. This increase combined with the increase in the numbers of businesses filing for Chapter 11, means that bankruptcy attorneys and their paralegals have never been busier.

Given the increase in the demand on the attorney?s time, most firms are looking to employ qualified legal assistants with their paralegal certification that can help manage the work load, increase the fee revenue while at the same improving the quality of service offered to the clients.

Why not look at local job vacancies in your area and see if it is possible to combine your wish for a family with a legal career.
