Ex-employee sued for taking Twitter followers

A South Carolina man has been sued for $340,000 by his former employer for lost business after he took 17,000 Twitter followers with him when he left the firm.

The Commercial Appeal reports that Noah Kravitz, who worked for Internet company PhoneDog LLC, changed his Twitter name from PhoneDog_Noah to noahkravitz, but kept his existing 17,000 Twitter followers.

In court papers, PhoneDog argues the followers should be treated like a customer list, that is, treated as PhoneDog?s property.

The company?s asks that Kravitz pay $2.50 per follower per month for eight months, or $340,000.
